EAST MOUNT HOUSTON PEDESTRIAN FACILITY DESIGN

Gradient Group, LLC was selected by Harris County Precinct 2 to perform professional engineering and other associated services for the preparation of plans, specifications, and construction documents for the construction of the new pedestrian facility (sidewalk) design for the improving safety for students at the Escamilla Intermediate School. The project scope of work includes design and bid phase engineering services to develop construction documents from Google Earth (saving the County time and money normally spent on surveying) to construct approximately 1,100 linear feet of concrete sidewalk along East Mount Houston from Hillside Drive to the IH-69 Frontage Road. The project was constructed using the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 guidelines utilizing Type 7 and Type 9 ADA ramps while maintaining a maximum 25 slope or less. The project also included drainage improvements and relocated a pedestrian facility bridge over the open ditch and slotted curbs to improve drainage and provide a safety barrier with heavy truck traffic in addition to signing and pavement markings.
