COLUMBIA TAP RAIL TRAIL CONNECTION

Gradient Group, LLC was selected by the Houston Housing Authority / Cuney Homes to design the Columbia Tap Rail Trail Connection. The Columbia Tap Trail project centered on establishing a pedestrian pathway spanning approximately 160 linear feet, directly connecting HHA’s Cuney Homes to the Columbia Tap Rail Trail. This crucial linkage enhances accessibility and promotes active transportation within the community. The project included sustainable features such as a rain garden detention pond and a pollinator garden to support local ecosystems. Additional enhancements encompassed new trees and turf for improved landscaping, decomposed granite seating areas for rest and social interaction, road realignment for better connectivity, and the installation of lighting, signage, and an emergency call box to ensure safety and wayfinding along the trail.
