The proposed of the US 83/US 84 project was to enhance corridor safety and efficiency for the traveling public. As local traffic increases with expected population growth and projected through traffic, TxDOT proactively prepared the corridor for future annual average daily traffic increases.
Gradient Group, LLC was responsible for providing the drainage design for the construction of safety improvements along 6+ miles of US 83/US 84 from FM 707/Iberis Road S. to the US 83/US 84 intersection, and the construction of a new overpass on Highway 83/84 at FM 204 (Clark/Remington Rd) and associated main lanes. Scope of services include sizing inlets, laterals and trunk lines that minimized the interference with the passage of traffic, damage to existing highway and local property. This effort included preparing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for the losses using FHWA’s HEC-22. The determination of drainage areas and flows for cross culvert drainage systems and interior storm drain systems was required for the design scope. Cross culverts were analyzed using HY-8, while the storm drain systems were analyzed using Win-Storm.
Deliverables include Plans, Specifications and Estimates developed for the drainage design which included Drainage Area Maps, Hydrologic Data Sheets, Hydraulic Data Sheets, Culvert Layout Sheets, Strom Drain Plan/Profile Sheets including proposed ditch profile grade line, and Miscellaneous Detail Sheets.
