We are seeking a Roadway Engineer with 4 – 8 years of relevant experience who is interested in quickly contributing and thriving in a fast-paced, positive, mutually supportive environment.
Key Technical Responsibilities:
- Leading or assisting in the development and execution of engineering projects, including the production of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction phase services while implementing client focused strategies.
- Develop feasible design alternatives and compare significant parameters such as typical sections, horizontal and vertical alignments, right-of-way requirements and cost using established and well-defined engineering techniques, procedures, policies and standards that comply with preexisting state and municipality requirements.
- Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project’s purpose and need.
- Use computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Prepare and modify written technical reports, engineering studies, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs using approved company formats.
- Aspires to work in a team environment and is willing to help in other areas as needed. Work as part of a team that delivers a range of civil design projects. Mentor EITs and designers to successfully execute and deliver high quality work.
- Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure the best practices with all team members.
- Understands and adheres to project schedules and budgets to ensure a timely and cost-effective delivery to our clients.
- Adheres to company standards for quality assurance and quality control.
Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
- 4 – 8 years of experience working on roadway engineering and project management, including previous experience on municipal roadway projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software is required. MicroStation, OpenRoads and ProjectWise experience are a plus.
- Proficient with MS Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Proficient with Bluebeam.
- TxDOT experience is preferred.
- Be a self-starter with ability to effectively communicate – both verbal and written.
- Ability to multi-task in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities. Be able to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, clients, and public agencies.
- Able to exercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problems.
- Must be reliable and dependable.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours as required.
- Authorized to work permanently in the US without sponsorship.
